Klaus Dietrich was born during the second world war in East Germany. An orphan who survived the war, Dietrich worked in the coal mines until he eventually was given a scholarship to study art in Munich. In 1953, he left Germany for France and has lived in Paris since that time. Through contacts with another German artist, he met the Parisian art merchants and was signed by the agent of Max Ernst, Salvador Dali and other surrealist artists. He became great friends with Dali and exhibited with him and Leonard Fini and others. Dietrich has gone on to become one of the best known contemporary visionary artists in Europe and Asia. In 1994, Dietrich exhibited in Japan with four other visionary artists in an exhibition that attracted 47,000 visitors within 17 days. The constant evolution of the artist and his work over the past 30 years brings us to the power of his current paintings. They reflect his vision of the harmony of life shown in the light in his paintings, by the color of the sky, the water, nature and other elements of life. When you can discover his vision with your own eyes, it's easy to understand why so many experts consider him probably one of the greatest contemporary visionary paintings.
