Artist's Statement:
I believe that the function of art is to aid man's understanding of himself, the universe, and his place in it. To do this we can reproduce surface reality, or we can try to understand underlying forces through works of imagination. After a desperate search for "something new" to follow the quantum leaps of discovery which gave birth to modern art, priority is once again invested in art as a sublime vehicle to understand Gaugin's question, "Who are we, where do we come from, and wither are we going?"

Gaugin was a Symbolist; a school that sought to understand man through his mythology and fantasy, and deplored his rapidly increasing alienation from nature and, therefore, himself. My work reflects this philosophy at a point in time when the most advanced research in physics and related sciences reveal the profound insight and wisdom of American Indian and Oriental mysticism. More and more as science proves the inadequacy of the written word to describe the nature of the universe and our place in it, the artist will fill the gap with the beautiful metaphor of the reality we call art.

We have an increasing need for art directed as much to the heart as at the mind, for only here can the universe truly be contemplated.
