The work of Vicente Dopico Lerner takes place at a crossroad where reality and its abstraction seem to search for each other in an encounter/rejection within a continuous play of allusions. At one end of this arc, one can find works about human forms. However, the vision of those forms is really a response to an obvious message. Dopico uses color to create spaces and subspaces, covering different levels that incite us to question appearances that could emerge behind their organic structures. His use of color is a catalytic element beyond its mere decorative role fulfilling a dalectical function of hiding while making transparent the reality which this artist wants to show. Dopico leaves spaces for our imagination to run. He presents an invitation to begin an intense and fruitful journey full of surprises along the way. (Excerpted from critique by Carlos M. Luis).
