Artist's Statement:
Themes in my work deal with issues of love, beauty, equality and healing the earth. Many times over I use important female imagery such as the triple spiral, the snake and triangle that all go deep into the feminine psyche. I cannot help but believe that putting this imagery into the world somehow effects the changes that are necessary for social and cultural transformation. I am committed to creating the balance of the masculine and the feminine energies that are in today's world so out of balance. As a global thinker, I presume to believe that one day we will become one, where we can be at peace and in harmony with nature, where we will have no more war.
With all of this, I am committed to work on change not just through my art, but by founding and directing the Women's Institute for Creativity, Inc. in Miami, Florida. Since 1992, this organization has stood for empowering women through the creative process in all the cultural arts. As an adult education center, we hold workshops and conduct research on issues of creativity as it relates to the feminine. As we slowly move into the new millennium in a holistic and intuitive way, we reach for the dreams of tomorrow, and know that the quality of life issues and dreamtime are essential ingredients for a healthy society. I therefore believe in not just artistic expression, but that we must join together in a sense of community to bring about the changes so badly needed now and for future generations.
